ICEC 2012 Council Meeting – 24 June 2012, Durban South Africa

The 2012 ICEC Council Meeting is scheduled for Sunday 24 June 2012 at the International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa. The meeting will be held from 9am-5pm. Please also note that a pre-Council meeting will also be held the day before (Saturday 23 June 2012) for the ICEC Executive Officers and Regional Directors/Assistant Secretaries. The time frame for this meeting has been tentatively planned from 9am-12pm.

The ICEC Council meeting will be held in conjunction with the ICEC 8th World Congress being held from 23-27 June 2012 at the same venue in Durban, South Africa. Further details including the preliminary program can be obtained from the Congress website at: www.icec2012.org.za

ICEC World Congresses & Council Meetings

The first International Cost Engineering Council Congress (ICEC) was held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1971. Since 1972 there has been an ICEC Congress every second year. Our most recent Congress was held in Singapore in 2010. ICEC holds its Council Meeting every 2 years in conjunction with these world congresses.

The next ICEC Congress will be held 23-27 June 2012 in Durban, South Africa. The ICEC Council Meeting will be held in conjunction with this Congress on Sunday 24 June 2012.

PAQS 16th Congress & ICEC Region 4 Meeting, 7-10 July 2012, Brunei Darussalam

The Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) will be holding their 16th Annual Congress from 7-10 July 2012 in Brunei Darussalam.

The ICEC Region 4 (Asia Pacific) Meeting will be held during this Congress.

The event is being hosted and organised by the Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects, Brunei (PUJA. Its is sponsored by the Ministry of Development Brunei Darussalam.

PMA Focus 2011 – 19 – 20 October 2011 – Austria Centre Vienna

What are the attributes of efficient project management? And of an
effective one? And does efficiency and effectiveness automatically lead to
success?

Which competences do project managers require to work efficiently,
effectively and successfully? Which tools and methods are available and when
does it make sense to use them?

These questions – and many more – will be discussed at the pma focus
2011 in Vienna. Respected scientists and practitioners will present their

ICEC Region 2 Meeting – hosted by ACostE

On behalf of assistant secretary of ICEC Region 2 Rob van Hoeve (The Netherlands), Assistant Director – Alec Ray (United Kingdom) and myself, I have pleasure in inviting you to our regional meeting which will be hosted by Association of Cost Engineers (ACostE – United Kingdom).

Call for Registration

ACostE will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, with a two day Conference and Dinner in Coventry (the West Midlands area of the Country) on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2011 (the week after the Region 2 Meeting)

This is a very special year for the ACostE as we are celebrating half a century of representing the wide diversity of disciplines, which make up the Cost Engineering and Project Controls profession.

To this end, we would like to take this opportunity of inviting all members, and others with an interest in Cost Engineering and Project Controls, to attend the two-day Annual Conference to be held this year on the 2nd – 3rd November at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

We have put together a very comprehensive array of presentations and structured learned workshops that will be of interest to all those in Cost Engineering and Project Controls. On the first day the Prestige Lecture will be given by Tim Banfield, Director, National Audit Office on ‘Estimators and decision-makers: making the marriage work’, and we have prominent speakers from industry and academia. These include presentations from BAE Systems and Jaguar Land Rover, presentations by The Assessment Service Centre (TASC) on the new QCF Diploma which replaces the NVQ qualifications, and the development of routes for tiered accreditation through the ACostE .

Day One

Twelve technical presentations will be given covering the following topics:

Day two is a Learning Event at which delegates will have the opportunity to further explore the speciality of their choice in the following series of workshops (CPD points to be awarded):

IPMA & ICEC International Research Forum 2011

The purpose of this event is to present the status and trends from the field of project management profession. In the plenary part, experts from various professional backgrounds will present their views and visions. The event will conclude with an open discussion forum, where you can contribute your views and visions.
