The NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE OF QUANTITY SURVEYORS is pleased to announce that it will host the Eleventh Congress of PAQS in 2007.
The theme for the conference 'Construction from a Different Perspective' not only pays tribute to the host country (i.e. New Zealand being 'down under') it also highlights our objective, which is to discuss and review traditional methods of construction, materials and the procurement processes, and to establish whether they are sustainable and appropriate for the 21st century.
Our ultimate goal is for delegates to come to PAQS 2007, listen, participate, and depart having debated and learned something of the alternative contract delivery models available in the world at present.
This conference promises to be an extremely memorable and worthwhile event, both in terms of professional and personal experience. We look forward to welcoming you aboard as a delegate at the Eleventh Congress of PAQS. Discover more about it - the where, when, what and why - by browsing our site now.
There is a move in New Zealand (and internationally) to establish whether the traditional methods of construction, materials and the procurement processes are sustainable and appropriate for the 21st century.
This is accentuated by many factors (such as the globalisation of business, use of information technology and the growing concern of climate change), and many governments are adopting regulation when the industry participants do not move sufficiently fast to respond to the concerns.
In the Asia Pacific region especially, the extraordinary increase in the rate of construction of buildings and infrastructure has created a need to ensure that the investment in construction is planned, suitable for purpose and does not waste scarce natural resources nor cause unacceptable pollution.
The theme of the Eleventh Congress of PAQS 'Construction from a Different Perspective' is intended to generate discussion and debate of new and successful construction processes and methods and allow a review of the old.
We will be examining alternative delivery models and we invite you to participate in workshops to determine their applicability, effectiveness and ultimate desirability.
We look forward to your input...

ICEC's Iceland member is hosting NORDNET 2007 in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland and home of more than half of the country's 300 000 inhabitants. Named after the steam from the geothermal areas the city is now known for its clean air and beautiful surroundings. In Reykjavik you have opportunities for historical sites, natural beauty, museums and galleries, public parks, excellent shopping, a wide range of leisure activities, hotels, restaurants and a remarkably lively artistic scene.
On-line registration will commence in March 2007 and the program will be available in April 2007.

The CIQS are pleased to announce that approval was given at the PAQS Board Meeting in Singapore for the CIQS to host the PAQS Congress in 2008. Although early in the planning stages, the Congress will be held from 14-18 June 2008 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. The ICEC World Congress will also be held in Canada shortly after the PAQS Congress in Toronto from June 29 – 2 July 2008. This Congress will be held in conjunction with the Annual AACE International Annual Meeting. Plans are currently being examined to provide a link between these two Congresses in the form of tours and meetings to maximise the benefits of attending both congresses.
