The 2007 PAQS Congress, which will held in Auckland, New Zealand, between 9-13 June 2007 promises to be an outstanding event. The Congress hopes to challenge participants to consider the current debate within the industry about whether the traditional methods of construction, materials and the procurement processes are sustainable and appropriate for the 21st century. ICEC welcomes appointment to UN NGO Roster

“The recent decision by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to grant Roster consultative status to the International Cost Engineering Council’s (ICEC) provides a welcome opportunity for ICEC to contribute to the work of the United Nations”, ICEC Secretary-Treasurer Peter Smith said today. Expert in policies for managing urban areas - Request for information

AICE has asked members for information that might assist a new formative project that aims to create an “expert in policies for managing urban areas” sponsored by The Polytechnic University of Milano. The expert is likely to be something more than a “town planner” with integrated competencies in urbanistics, sociology, negotiation skill, local government, etc. [ more ]

Peter Smith succeeds Ken Humphreys as ICEC Secretary

At the recent ICEC World Congress in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Dr Kenneth Humphreys stepped down as the International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) Secretary-Treasurer after serving in that position for 30 years since the founding of the International Cost Engineering Council. Succeeding Dr Humphreys is Dr Peter Smith of the University of Technology, Sydney. [ more ]

The Institute of Appraisers and Cost Engineers of Nigeria (IACE) has submitted an application for ICEC membership. IACE is a Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. This application is currently being processed. [ Go to the IACE website ]

Since their election in April ICEC Chair, Ginette Basak, and ICEC Secretary Treasurer, Peter Smith, have attended three ICEC Regional meetings. They also met with RICS while in London for the ICEC Region 2 meeting. [more]
